Sony signs 3-D video deal for 2010 World Cup

Kageyama, Yuri. "Sony signs 3-D video deal for 2010 World Cup." Yahoo. 3 Dec 2009. http://sports.yahoo.com/top/news?slug=ap-japan-sony-3-dworldcup

The 2010 FIFA World Cup will be shown in 3-D. Sony has just recently signed a deal with FIFA (International Federation of Association Football) that will allow the Japanese electronics and entertainment company to record up to 25 games in 3-D. This will allow viewers to get a more realistic experience while watching the game. The viewers will have to wear special 3-D glasses in order to experience the 3-D effect; however, manufacturers are currently working to make these effects visible without glasses.

I think that this is really cool because everything in 3-D tends to be better than things in 2-D. I am looking forward to the FIFA World Cup now for 2 reasons, to see who wins and to see who wins in 3-D. This just shows how far our society has advanced that now we are able to watch things in 3-D. Just some 70 years ago, we were just experiencing the greatness of black and white television. I hope that everyone will take this opportunity to view history in the making by watching the 2010 World Cup in 3-D.

  1. I think this is great! No doubt anything in 3-D is much better than 2-D. We will all get the feeling of being at the game, which will enhance our interest and help us to enjoy the game more. I think the technology we have now days is truly amazing! If they make it so viewers can watch it without 3-D glasses it will make the whole experience so much better.

  2. Its definitely great that we would be able to watch world cup in 3-D! And.... dang! Bronson already wrote everything I was gonna write! Yeah so um....... oh! I got one thing to say; does this mean that in order to watch in 3-D, we have to watch through made in Japan TVs? Even if I have made in Japan TV, where would I get 3-D glass? I think trying to watch games in 3-D will be inconvinient.
