Disney to rebrand sports complex as ESPN

Walt Disney Co's sports complex in central Florida will have a new name come February 2010. It will be renamed after its ESPN unit. The name will be changed to the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. The whole point of this name change is "to get closer to the fan and in particular they want to get closer to the youth athlete." The hope of the name change is to get athletes to become fans of ESPN at a young age and have their families visit the Disney parks and buy their merchandise.

I think this is good that Disney is changing the name of the sport complex because it gives the complex a more fitting name. Before, the building was named after Disney, which really does not have anything to do with sports. Now that the name is named after ESPN, it gives it a more fitting name. Although the name change seems good, I believe that the motive behind it is negative because Disney just wants more money. They are doing it so that young athletes watch more ESPN and visit their amusement parks so that they can get more money. That is what Disney is all about.
